Galaxies and Space

The Milky Way for Children | Galaxies and Space

In the darkness of night, you see something special in the sky, far from the lights and the cities. Clouds of light in the skies white stripe white! The ancients thought that it looked like a stream of milk flowing in the sky, and that is why it is called ‘Akashganga’. The galaxy we see in the sky is part of a galaxy, or a massive collection of stars, gas, dust, and other matter. Galaxies are connected to each other by gravity, just as our solar system is held together by the gravity of the sun. The Milky Way is our galaxy, where our solar system is located, but the solar system is a small fragment of the galaxy.

The Milky Way galaxy is very large, at least 100,000 light years away. A light year is how far light can travel in a year, about 6 trillion miles. In addition, the Milky Way galaxy contains at least 200 billion stars and perhaps at least 100 billion planets. Although it is massive, the Milky Way is prominent in the sky.

It is part of a group of other galaxies called the Local Group, which is made up of about 50 of our galaxies. This local group is estimated to be at least 10 million light-years away. Outside of the local group, scientists estimate that there are at least 170 billion galaxies in this part of the universe that can be seen from Earth, and there is no way to know how many more.

Galaxies come in many different shapes and forms. They may contain only a few million stars, or more than a trillion. They can be oval, spiral, or irregular in shape. The Milky Way galaxy, like the famous galaxies, is a spiral galaxy. Although no one really knows what the Milky Way looks like, as it is impossible to see all of it from the inside, as careful observation, other galaxies in Wales have given scientists a good idea of its shape. ۔ The Milky Way has four main parts. At the center is the ‘bulge’, or the galactic center. It is a collision in the middle of a galaxy, about 10,000 light-years away, dense and full of stars and other matter. Scientists believe that there is a huge black hole in the very center of the Milky Way.

The center of the galaxy is the brightest part of the galaxy. The next disc is a flattened region around the bulge in the middle. There are 100,000 light years across the disk. It is filled with young stars, gas and dust, the spiral is concentrated in the arms. Spiral arms are part of the disk, and the galaxy looks a bit like a pin. Our solar system is located in one of the spiral arms of the Milky Way galaxy, where the star system extends far beyond the center of the Milky Way galaxy. The last part of the Milky Way is Hala. The halo is a mostly spherical layer of old stars and clusters of stars that surround the main disk of the galaxy.

Compared to the rest of the galaxy, the halo is very empty, everything in it is spread far and wide. Ancient Greek philosophers thousands of years ago suggested that the Milky Way galaxy could be made up of distant stars that were close to each other, but there was no way to prove this until 1600 when astronomer Galileo Galilei used a Milky Way galaxy Observed and discovered that it was, in fact, made up of many, many faint stars.

If you want to go somewhere that is very dark and far from the light of cities and cars, you too can see this mysterious sight that has influenced myths and legends for thousands of years – the Milky Way.
